Previews: La Liga Round #19

This is a short preview of La Liga’s 19th fixture day. Video highlights will be available only if the official channel will put them up:

Rayo Vallecano vs Celta Vigo
Sidelined: Elustondo (Rayo) – Iago Aspas (Celta)

There’s still hope for Rayo to avoid relegation if the match against Celta Vigo will be won. The same goes for Celta, who is near the red zone.

Real Betis vs Real Madrid
Sidelined: T. Inui, W. Kaptoum, Sergio León, Sidnei, Junior Firpo (Betis) – Javier Sánchez, Marcos Llorente, M. Díaz, Marco Asensio, G. Bale (Real Madrid)

There’s still chaos at Real Madrid, after their recent loss to Sociedad. On top of that, many key players are unavailable for this match. It was hard to predict, at the begining, that this match will be a derby, but there it is. Both teams are playing to stay in the race for the last place that goes to Champions League.

Athletic Bilbao vs Sevilla
Sidelined: Mikel Rico, Lekue (Bilbao) – F. Vázquez, M. Gonalons (Sevilla)

While Sevilla is pushing for the title, Bilbao is trying to avoid relegation. This is an unusual situation for the Basque team. However, the match has a long run in the Spanish league and it will surely be a delightful one.

Real Sociedad vs Espanyol
Sidelined: Sandro Ramírez, Moyà, Andoni Gorosabel, Kévin Rodrigues, David Concha, Martín Merquelanz (Sociedad) – Mario Hermoso (Espanyol)

The two teams are just in the middle of the table, with no real worries. Sociedad comes after a great win on Santiago Bernabeu, while Espanyol can try to get the fifth place, but their chances are pretty slim at this moment.

Girona vs Alaves
Sidelined: S. Doumbia, Planas, J. Mojica, Aday, P. Roberts (Girona) – Antonio Sivera, Rodrigo Ely (Alaves)

For Alaves, every match is important. They are now on the fourth place in the table and are looking to get to the third, in case Sevilla fails. Girona stays safe at the middle, with no real worries.

Leganes vs Huesca
Sidelined: E. Muñoz, A. Szymanowski, Michael Santos (Leganes) – S. Gürler, Luisinho (Huesca)

Unfortunately for Huesca, their season is pretty much over. With only 11 points after 19 rounds, they are relegated in the second division. Leganes is also very close to the relegation zone but they do have chances to avoid a disaster.

Villarreal vs Getafe
Sidelined: Miguelón Llambrich, Bruno (Villarreal) – Bergara, A. Ndiaye (Getafe)

Villarreal has to win every match they can in order to remain on the top flight. Getafe, on the other hand, has a real chance to climb up to the Champions League places, but this will not be an easy match.

Atletico Madrid vs Levante
Sidelined: Gelson Martins, Filipe Luis, L. Hernández, Diego Costa (Atletico Madrid) – Luna, A. Sadiku (Levante)

Atletico denied Sevilla a win at home, but their squad is riddled with injuries. However, the match against Levante doesn’t look problematic. Levante sits somewhere in the middle, safe from relegation and also far away from a top place.

Valencia vs Valladolid
Sidelined: G. Kondogbia, Gonçalo Guedes (Valencia) – Joaquín Fernández, Ivi López, Luismi Sánchez (Valladolid)

Valencia has had a disastrous season, from being one of the top contenders at the title to going down into the relegation zone. Valladolid and Valencia are just one point apart, and this match is crucial for the safety of both teams.

Barcelona vs Eibar
Sidelined: S. Umtiti, Rafinha, T. Vermaelen (Barcelona) – Mendilibar, Pedro León (Eibar)

There seems to be no real trouble for Barcelona in winning this one. Eibar hasn’t had a win in their last five matches (all draws), while Barca is sitting at the top of the league, five points ahead of Atletico and Sevilla.
